We started writing Scavenger Hike Adventures Rocky Mountain National Park about two years ago.  We spent a couple of weeks at Rocky in 2005 and met with rangers and experts and looked around.  What a wonderful hiking park.  Kat and I fell in love with Rocky.  We read every book available and last year Kat rented a house in Estes Park overlooking Twin Sisters pinnacles and hiked everyday with rangers, historians and experts and locals.   I was really quite jealous.  I used every piece of my available time and joined her.

It gave us stomach aches when we left Estes Park and returned to the Smokies.  Now two years later from our first research visit and over a thousand  hours of research and hiking and the book will be released in just a few weeks!!!  Whew.  Kat is out of town up north and I am thinking I'll take my dog down to some isolated campsite and sleep and read some books on Shenandoah National Park; our next book project.  We have been researching Shenandoah and will head out there in a couple of weeks to begin the wonderful job of exploring and creating Scavenger Hike Adventures.  We will give provide a journal update on that new adventure right here.

I am a trainee blogger...so feel free to give advice.  I am still struggling with upload photo deal.

Want to know how it feels to have a book totally done where you can't change anything else or doublecheck another fact or try to figure out if a dragonfly illustration really fits at the elevation of hike #??  or did we remember to thank everyone or is that scavenger hike clue to vague?????

I don't know.  I am still in shock.

By the way, if you go on a Scavenger Hike Adventure and comment on what a great clue you were just given.....That would be Kat. She is so nice.

If you read the clue twice and walk back to retrace your steps..scratch your head...That would be me.

Our second hiking book is finished and we feel honored and privileged to help others enjoy the wonder and awe of our national parks.

Greetings!

John,

Congratulations to you and Kat on your new book. Mike and I were thinking about you today as we hiked up to Spruce Flats Falls in the Smokies. Lots of lovely Mountain Laurel covering the side of the mountain.

Best of luck!

Fantastic books!

Audrey

I just wanted you to know that I have enjoyed all the books you have written.  Still waiting for the latest to become available.

The Rockies are a beautiful place!  I will be visiting there this summer.  I look forward to using your book while I go hiking!  Hopefully you will have some easy hikes.  All this technology is a little overwhelming with uploading pictures & now blogging.

Enjoy the new experience as you write your next book & keep us informed of your adventures!

Smile

Congratulations!

Congratulations, Kat and John!

You guys earn every adulation for the great books and the great work. The folks at Falcon are thrilled to have the opportunity to publish your books and to work with you. Here's looking to the next great work.

Scott
